Call You Mine

While the millennials are turning to apps to find that someone special, here’s a 2019 love story that’s even more hatke. The gym supplanted the bar as their favourite meeting spot, Sidhanth laced his sneakers and initiated a conversation with Sanaa (trainer played cupid), working hard while working out to win her over…and the rest as they say, is history! A couple that works out together stays together, and so began this adorable love story. Who knew this swole-mate would actually be the soulmate! We mean, if they’re attracted to you while you’re perspiring, red-faced, and have messy hair, then they must really like you, no? Sidhanth’s father even bought the same treadmill to treasure it for life! Sweet, isn’t it? And here we were capturing their wedding at the Holiday Inn, Goa. Our favourite part of the wedding was undoubtedly Sidhanth’s proposal. And if you have watched their trailer on our YouTube page you would know why (we still watch it over and over, on reruns!) In the fraction of a sangeet minute, while Sidhanth was in a corner having shots with his friends, nervously and excitedly waiting for the right moment, he unexpectedtly walked towards Sanaa. And that walk across the dance floor, was a walk to remember! And down he was, on one knee. And our hearts were melting. It is definitely going down amongst the many great proposals in WeddingNama history.

This “putting a ring on it” moment, was more about the sentiment and less about the show. And that’s what we loved best! Everything about this wedding was customized with minute attention to details, right from the décor to the anecdotes that went on to the signages, to even the notes as table centre pieces. About the wedding festivities: It started with a vibrant mehendi, followed by a power-packed sangeet. And what is an Indian sangeet without all the Bollywood tadka in it? The romantic Bollywood numbers guaranteed to rock every pair of feet in the room. The haldi was a sentimental affair as they completely got drenched in turmeric yellow and smeared with flowers. Then arrived the wedding day! Now we all know that few wedding spots are more idyllic than a floral mandap against the backdrop of a sunset by the sea, as waves provide the background score for the mantras being recited. Beach weddings are a unanimous favourite and this one came with an unhurried undertone. And then, what better way to mark the end of the celebration with one big pajama party? We went bananas (Read: Pajamas!) Blankies. Pillows. Dance moves. Cheesy pop hits. Flashy lights. Eye masks. Midnight snacks. Matchy PJs. Onesies. Bathrobes. Slippers. And your BFFs! Could it get any better? We don’t think so, too. Only, this slumber party was even more maddening than we’d thought. This is one of those weddings where we really ventured into photography as an art form, trying the various formats of shooting. The team from Ilford even came down to shoot the behind the scenes and we were excited to create something new and unique. We even nurtured our photographic eye, by shooting a lot of black and white photographs. Reason, you may ask? Parameters of a world without colour forces you to see things differently, to stretch and work out your creative muscles. Also, it lends a certain timeless quality to the images. Most importantly, it helps emphasize emotions! Looking at someone’s face, or into their eyes, without the distraction of colour helps provide a stronger emotional connect with our subject.

In Sanaa’s words, “After speaking with Akash a few times, and judging from the work we had seen, we expected to meet with a team who was as invested in looking beyond the fanfare and extravagance to capture the purest emotions on display at the wedding. And we weren’t disappointed! Our experience was nothing short of fabulous! The entire team took the trouble to get to know us, to understand what we were comfortable with, to get to know our families and to make sure that they seamlessly blended in with all the festivities. Their hospitable disposition and unabashed warmth made it so easy to work with them. Everywhere we turned we’d find one of them, tirelessly capturing every single memory we were making. The two of us, along with all our family has watched the wedding trailer on repeat ever since we got our hands on it. A few photographs from the first batch of pictures have already made their way to frames around our homes. To say we have LOVED all that we’ve seen would be an understatement. Words can’t convey the gratitude we have for capturing all the emotions, the warmth and the love we felt surrounded with on our wedding day. We are very very likely to recommend you’ll whole-heartedly, to any one who asks 🙂 Both Sidhanth and me were so heavily invested in how we wanted the wedding trailer to turn out. From the music to the tone we wanted to set, we had a ton of ideas of our own. And we couldn’t have found a better team to have entrusted with the responsibility of bringing our vision to life. Not only did Akash and Ankita understand our sensibilities, they brought their own vision to our thoughts and created a seamless blend that is beautifully apparent in both the photography and the videography from the wedding weekend.”

Made with love – with this wedding, we promise more warmth than you can handle!
